gotta be above it.

crochet cardigan- hand me down from jean greige
levis cut offs- melrose trading post
cut up tee- forever 21

Pretty lazy day on the nanny gig. He spent the car ride home reading and I jammed to some Tame Impala. Then, as always, comes the homework followed by a "meat flower" I constructed out of salami as a snack for the kid. I had coffee and sourdough toast because salami scares me.

in daylight i stomp around like a motherfucker.

camo tank- urban outfitters
acid wash shorts- american apparel
boots- old ass steve maddens

I have a chronic case of non matching socks. I don't even know how people manage to keep a pair of socks together. Who are those people? Show them to me. Line them up so I may shake their hands, each one. They are probably the same people who get a pimple and DON'T fuck it with it til they've made a scabby pussy mess. And probably the same people who never forget to shave their armpits and who NEVER have weird razor rash bikini line on beach day and who always remember to eat breakfast. Like seriously who are these women? I wanna meet them and study their ways.

There are (including Carl) SEVEN dogs in my apartment, one cat, and three humans, so Carl and I have been hiding out in the air conditioned patioed solace of a pal's Hollywood hills apartment.

Oh, the title of this post is a line from something I wrote recently.
Thought it was fitting what with my old ass Steve Maddens strapped to my feet.
...here's an excerpt:

tee- stolen from eric
shorts- urban outfitters
furry cap- stolen from steph's boo
boots- melrose trading post

Yes, technically half of this outfit does not belong to me.
Let's just call it, "pal tax"...
and yes I will return these items to their rightful owners...
eventually.

I'm about to run by the post office to send out some mailz.

1) One package of awesome vintage duds I found HANGING FROM A TREE outside a cool little house in my neighborhood with a sign that said "FREE." No I'm not shitting you, you guys. Snagged Steph some killer patterned  turquoise britches and a silky yellow top. So I'm sending those treasures.

2) One framed collage entitled "galactic pancake" which my cool ass cousin Samantha bought from me. Check out my insta (tracilavois) I'll be posting more art for sale soon!

3) One letter response to my newest penpal :)

lots of good vibe mail heading to Texas.

Then it's off to the nanny gig.

velvet dreamz.

vintage velvet cropped corset top- milk + honey vintage
bad vibes olive juice shorts- tunnel vision
boots- thrifted

This perfect top and these perfect shorts are a match made in heaven. So much velvety goodness. The condition of this vintage top is out of this world good. Plus I got it while attending a dress up party in Houston hosted by founder of milk + honey, Ashley Cid. She had a bunch of cool local gals over for wine, cupcakes and shopping. We got to rifle through her piles of treasures and skirt the shipping fee by buying direct. She's a smart gal with a cool little company...if you're in Houston (and even if you aren't, you should know about this bitch)

Check out Milk + Honey Vintage and Tunnel Vision, both female owned small businesses that crank out some crazy good vintage.

Soooo...
I take my blog pictures in my driveway. I live in the back house behind a bigger house so the driveway is long and far from the street. Carl gets to play around in the drive while I awkwardly wait for the ten second self timer count down blinking and beeping at me from some borrowed camera propped up on a garbage bin. Shortly after taking these pictures Carl spotted two dogs on the opposite sidewalk and ran right to them, across the street and oncoming traffic. I had to chase after him in this tiny outfit while disgruntled drivers honked at me, making their annoyance known. Calm the fuck down please and don't kill my dog with your Prius. Being a pup mom is tough. That shit scared the living daylight out of me. Carl is serving his bad dog sentence in his crate while I try to cool the fuck off.
AGHHHHH.

divinity or death.

tee- goodwill
shorts- thrifted levis (melrose trading post)
windbreaker- vintage
sunnies- forever21

You have to be careful, when visiting your home in the south, about wearing religious imagery on your body. There, a Jesus is my Homeboy shirt is not perceived as some hipster sarcasm, but is instead interpenetrated as an alternative expression of Christ love, some sub culture of the Christian Youth, spreading their saving grace through FASHION. But now that I'm back in LA, I can blamelessly sport my The Virgin and Machine Gun garb all I want, free from any religious association. (besides its that super killer kind of thin ass cotton)

All joking aside I am quite partial to Texas. And the parts I frequent are not nearly as bigoted and close minded as my aforementioned joke would make them out to be. They are actually teaming with interesting and diverse people and things and ideas and cheesy foods. She's a good and sturdy state. She holds me. I feel closer to the ground in Texas. But I can still point my toes to the sky if I want to.

I'll post more about my visit home soon.
byebye for now, sweet chippies.
